my macool  looks like salem dark
same taste,same ripe time,same leaves,and fruit same color.
are these two varieties this the same?

I would be interested as well.

I believe Bass found both of these varieties. Assuming the plants are correctly labeled, I'd find it hard to believe they are the same, he knows what he is doing. Just my 2 cents.

They are similar varieties. Each came from a different source, both originated in Syria. 
Salem Dark came from my uncle Salem who has been growing this syrian fig for many years and it's very vigorous and productive, and cold hardy.
Macool I collected from syrian fig grown by Mr. Macool. Tree had been at the property for at least 25 years, before that he got it from his father in law who had the fig for at least 30 years, and it was brought from Syria at some point. 
Are you the same fig? there's a possibility, or they're just cousins.

I get very few breba figs from Salem Dark but a huge crop from main crop. A hardy variant indeed. I abandoned my
Salem Dark years ago in its 1 gal pot. Somehow it survive all these years of winter without protection and had roots
grown out from pot and established itself. I do manage to harvest a high percentage of Salem Dark main crop.

Note picture no.2 -- Salem Dark still in 1 gal pot where roots have gone into ground from 1 gal pot. A good survival.

Very interesting. I was under the impression that Macool had very distinctive brebas, very long "necks". The Salem dark breba above doesn't look like the pictures I have seen of Macool brebas. Both of mine are still small, and I only have one main crop Macool this year. So I have no personal experience. Helikai, are the brebas on your's the same?

I can't find a link to the Macool breba picture, but I think it was Bass'.
