I made fresh fig soap this last weekend and it turned out great.

How did you use the figs in the soap?
I used to make a coffee soap, using brewed espresso and grounds as an additional texture. Smelled awful as it cured, but resulted in beautiful long lasting soap.

What is the fragrance like? If you have used it, how does it do for washing your face. I imagine the seeds would be an like a scrub and the sugar would be nice also.

I used the melt and pour soap base. Cooked the pink part of fig in microwave until bubbly. Added fig to soap base. I used sugar cookie scent and a very small amount or red soap dye to mimic the inner fig color.

A fig scented essential oil could be used but I didn't have it. Soap works great

Use them before they mold. Even dried additives like oatmeal have a tendency to mold.

Don't know shelf life. That's why I make small soaps when using fresh fruit.

I've never done melt-and-pour, just traditional lye based soaps. It's been a couple years, and I understand lye is hard to come by because the meth-cookers were using it. Crazy.

I think it will be a long time before I could ever have enough figs to waste on making soap with them :)

Same here, Ed. These fruits need to go in my belly.

I do agree with Ed & Frank which is why I'm sure all three of us smell much worse than Susan! :D
