Made me drool....

I was looking at a couple of varieties tonight.   I stumbled across this fig, and looked at the additional pictures.  Every time I see this one, it catches my eyes and makes my mouth water.

So many amazingly tasting looking figs there.

That also caught my eye in past as it looks nice. The other photo's not so nice amongst that group of pictures perhaps due to the time they were picked though.
But well worth a try at growing to see how it actually tastes.

I was thinking of getting rid of it. Well, given this noise level, I will keep it. It drop all its figs last season.

Hey Paul if you ever want to  get rid of it make sure you sent it my way lol

Have to agree with you Jason.
That and the Raspberry Latte.

Probably the one you have is "Pastillier" (Known) and Jason is talking about the "Unknown Pastillier" that is causing the drooling. It has not been verified yet if the "Unknown Pastillier" is a "Pastillier". There is chance that the two may be different varieties or different strains. I believe you may be rooting the "Unknown Pastillier" this year. Keep both and compare.
I got good green fruiting load last year on Unknown Pastillier but the frost came before the ripening. This winter I had decided to five this plant a place of honour on the south side of the wall to see if it will ripen in time. One thing I had found that it is more prone (sensitive) to frost damage than most others.
I was also tempted by the colour of the interior and bought cuttings in the winter of 2008. I always used go for a variety by the colour in pictures but now I have learned that the colour may not be the same in every climate and soil conditions so I have to be satisfied with faded colours as long as it ripens (& hopefully tastes good too).

Edit: BTW, mine did not drop the fruit at all. They were hard to pluck at the end of the season even after frost. Could be the climate?

The unknown Pastillier came from the fig king of North America and my Pastillier came from E'pean source. The unknown grows like a weed. Has many figs last year. Hopefully it will give me one to sample.

Yes Yes. The Unknown Pastillier is a drooler. Small tree or cuttings...I'm interested.
