Madeira island fig cuttings plantation old tradition..

I'll add to this!  I have a photo of JD peeing at a golf course (and no, it's not on twitter).  No wonder those courses are so green!!

Harvey,

Click on the link below...It's all of this guys' posts. Now tell me he is legit.....

slingha, I've seen all of his posts and have communicated directly.  I haven't bought anything from him and don't plan to.  Like I said above, he's getting criticized if he does something wrong and again when he doesn't.  He isn't doing anything wrong here and people with negative comments should back off, IMO.

I believe the negative comments in this thread do not adhere to the decorum thread posted recently.  http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/Forum-Decorum-6119026?pid=1276038557

Here we go again!   I regret clicking on this topic. I am so sick of ABUSERS. No matter where they go, they just treat others like poo!

Francisco and I have our Portuguese language in common. He is real, legit, and a very nice guy. I communicate with him in Portuguese and found him to be much nicier than some of you instigators of trouble.  Can you trouble makers just go get a life somewhere?

As long as you don't accept the hate, it only hurts its source.

Harvey, I agree with your posts #38, 40 and 41. Francisco had to defend him self in almost every one of his post. To the best of my knowledge
he has not done anything wrong other than post a pic from Google and he removed it when he was called on it. No one can truly say if the fig he sold
is Black Madeira or not until DNA says so.

any one wont a hug

Madeira Island is there for hundreds of years. Fig grows in Madeira for hundreds of years. Of course every fig that grows there is Madeira fig!  The ORIGINAL and LEGIT Madeira fig would be the one coming from Madeira.  Francisco is from there and grew up around these figs!  He has the authority to say whatever, it is his land, his figs!   More power to him.

Francisco, nao se apoquente lendo esses comentarios nem se sinta que deve responder. Tem muita gente nociva e desocupada por aqui, mas tem muita gente boa e interessada em aprender com vc tambem!

As I said in another post, in time, character reveals itself. Tenure does not equal quality.

Funniest thing i've read all day.

My 2 cents. I don't know all aspects of this argument but I am very bothered by a new seller that really nobody knows, who claims to have Black Madeira, which as everyone knows is a highly desireable and expensive fig, in fact arguably the best fig out there. I get the fact that he is from Madeira Island, but that doesn't make him a fig authority any more than it makes me a historian of Philadelphia because I've lived here my whole life, that is just dumb. Some years ago I spent good money (read a whole lot of money) on several figs from myfigsforfun including a so called Black Madeira which I now jokingly call my white Madeira since that is the actual color of the figs it produces. Newbies take note, us old heads don't want you to get burned, that's pretty much it. And be honest, this guy is new out of no where selling THE premium fig, it's questionable at best so yes buyer beware. I have no ax to grind with any new or old members, I welcome the new and enjoy my friendship with the old members. We all know that some new members will not hang around, some will only be here until they get a few cuttings and others will stay and become valued members, that's the same in any sort of group like this, same thing happens in the local horticultural groups I belong to. And there is the occassional trouble maker who only has nasty things to say. So what, so we deal with it all. To me the overall experience of the forum has been very positive, let's try to keep it that way.

I think warnings are great, so long as they do not become a wave of paranoia, targeting those who may be new. Let each individual case warrant its individual response. It remains to be seen if gluglo is genuine or not. Pushback on a friendly warning should not elicit hostility or the "Fine, I am going to play elsewhere" mentality. What concerns me is we are seeing some blanket statements of late, saying new people should be approached with suspicion. That's not right. We were all new at some point.

And Dom, for the record, no thanks on the offered kiss. Judging from your recent posts, you have a dirty mouth. :) (That is a joke for those of the thin-skinned variety)

Harvey
You mentioned "Thanks for sharing your experiences, Francisco". Who is Francisco and how did his name come in this thread?
You may be confusing lampo (Francisco) with gluglo.

If one goes to gluglo profile you see some things that is hard to connect to any Francisco.
Also gluglo profile lead to a Homepage URL  http://blackfig.blogspot.pt/   where he is known as mich and if you click on mich complete Profile you see a lot of stuff, a lot of commercial advertisements including black figs from Madeira (of course all black figs from Madeira are 'Madeira Black Figs' or "Black Madeira Figs" or any other permutation. Do visit the complete profile and learn how to send someone to more commercial under a spicy title 'topless' etc.

I said more than I intended which was that gluglo (though from Portugal)  is not lampo (Francisco). So the quarrels are null and void.

I'm confused too.  What is all the drama here?

Pretty bad translation there wow. The method he's talking about uses burlap and not cloth and manure not urine. Old manure to be exact in my old town they used rabbit or goat manure as chicken and cow manure can burn new roots and would be used later on once the tree was established. The calcium he's talking about is actually lime as most people back in the day had it around he house since it was used also to paint the exterior of the houses.

Gluglo I understand you feeling like you don't need to prove anything but if your selling bêbera preta then List it as that no fig in Madeira is called black anything so keep the original names please.

By the way when did figs4fun turn into figs4funds come on guys lets have some fun.

See post #25 at http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/cuttings-from-Portugal-arrived-6153534

gluglo is also Francisco (his Christian name), I just prefer referring to someone by their actual name but should have been clearer by adding his ID in parenthesis.

This thread has been edited because some did not take their chill pill today.

Wow! She admires your control!  Amazing!  Hands clapping!
