Madeleine des Deux

I should have waited another day on this one but already an inch of rain this morning and much more
to come this afternoon. Has a thick skin but tinder, not too moist but kind of figgy. Quiet a large fig weighing  in at 2.10 oz or  59 gr. Maybe a 7 on 1-10 scale.

Nice! I love the leaf shape.

Ditto Tamar, those leaves are really nice.

Very attractive leaf pattern and grows very upright. There
are 10-15 more green figs that will ripen soon so
I can get a better taste test.

Very nice. This was one of the figs grown at Monticello, correct?

Looking good, Mike
I can relate about picking early. A man got to do what a man got to do.

I had one and recently gave it away. After four years of dealing with its' extra heavy FMV I said the heck with it.

Rafed, interesting. My tree came from Raintree and you can't see
any signs of FMV.

Would be very interested in hearing how tasty it might be in another year when we have less rain. Not sure how anything grown with the amount of rain we have had can be other than larger and blander than it would be under more normal growing conditions. Am considering a Madeleine for my Granddaughter's birthday next year or the year after as she is also a Madeleine and growing into a good little figger based on the care she has given her Mom's Celeste.  We picked over a gallon of ripe figs off a 4 year old bush in about 10 minutes and have not put a dent into the total crop. There will be many fig puddings in that house before winter sets in.

Very nice one Mike as most of your figs. Also love the leaf shape very attractive. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice Mike . I'm also interested in how it tastes when the others ripen.

John,
If that is the same fig as Angelique then yes it was grown by Jefferson.

It is said to be the same

Mike,
It probably is. I have 2 small and one good sized Angeliques from Monticello but -- no figs, - so I won't know this year even how good the figs are. Unless I show up at Monticello and swipe figs.

Very nice Mike...enjoy those beautiful figs.

Picked another one today that was perfectly ripened with no rain. It
was excellent, sweet, strong berry and jammy with no crunch. My wife
said its the best one she has had. Me, it's still Malta Black.
