Madeleines des Deux Saisons & Friends

Good day, I wasn't in the mood to pick figs today after a long day at work.  So, while I was outside daydreaming, I looked over at my MddS growing in my orchard and I totally forgot to check for ripe figs the other day.  My tree is loaded with figs and last year I did not get any due to the birds and ants.  So, for some reason, the birds must be full after eating most of my Hardy Chicago figs because they forgot about this tree.  Well, here is one that I picked a few hours ago and man or man was it good!  It was very sweet.  The wife game me the thumbs up!

At 12 o'clock is Madeleines des Deux Saisons, 3 o'clock is Hardy Chicago, 6 o'clock is Salem White, and 9 o'clock is Black Bethlehem.  As  were super except Salem White.  Something keeps spoiling these figs.

Madeleines des Deux Saisons is a super tasting fig!

Enjoy!

This is silly to say but that is somehow such a romantic looking fig. It brings to mind pastoral idylls, jugs of wine and loaves of bread. Might have to add it to the wish list though by the year after next I hope to have tested enough to get from too many varieties to a bakers dozen of keepers. Nice photos.

Alexis,

You left out the green grapes and cheese. If you're going all out then let's do this right.
I might be able to help you with a couple cuttings in the Fall. No promises, yet.

Dennis,
Mine had a real nasty FMV issue. At the end of the 2010 season I chopped it up way low and gave it some extra fert the following season. It has looked much better since. Though it still has the FMV I am thinking of giving it another heavy chop in hopes it comes around better again.
Any chance you can include some pictures of the leaves? And how healthy is yours?

Ha!  Thanks Alexis!  There is more to come!

Rafed, I'll post some pics tomorrow.  My tree is pretty healthy.  It's growing quite well.  It has a nice bush vase shape.

I've read that this is a late season fig and it doesn't do well if it rains while ripening.  Is that so?
