Dan, dig a little deeper, that would be 1952. Also, my grandfather had a "Rotoette" Rototiller, somwhere between a Horse and Pony in the Rototiller sizes of today, which I inherited. I have a Horse, c. 1982, but it hasn't been out of the garage in 3-4 years. I was down to planting corn with it, and it was easier just to do it by hand. Everything else is mulched, so no need for a tiller.
Yes, I have been gardening, or at least in the garden with my parents for that long. I can't remember ever not being in the yard, mowing, weeding, planting, hoeing, watering, raking, shoveling, harvesting, etc.
