Making Fig Video

Hi there,
i saw a video or 2 of fig plants made by our own member on forum. I enjoyed looking at others plants in there yard.
It just hit me that i have a video feature on camera that i use to take my fig pictures with. I think with a little experimenting i can figure out how to put on hardive, my question is how would i then post it here?

Ciao Martin, this is a good question and something I wondered as well, I have been making fig video's of my own collection and home overseas of the figs, for couple years now.It is so neat to watch them and add music, ect. I like to video tape  at the figs when they were just tiny little sticks and see them now on the videos when they are 5-6 feet now, I had videotaped just the other day my fig trees and others, but I don't know how to share on the web, I should ask my neighbor who is a computer wiz and knows all this stuff, my video camera is a small one that has touchscreen, I love it, I interviewed a few older family members on it as well and had them talk about the family history, ect. It was funny to get them to understand that you have to talk, they sat real still and kept asking me " are you done now " they wouldn't move, they thought they were getting their picture taken, not actually video taped, I had fun that day,  they just didn't understand this technology.  Ciao Martin, we will have to check this out, when neighbor comes home, I will make him a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and sausage. and bargain with him for his time, he loves my food, so that will be good excuse to get some info.  Ciao

You can post your video on either youtube or on photobucket.  Most of us here already have a photobucket account, so I'd go with that.  The only catch is that there is a limit on the size (300MB) and duration (10 min) of the video that you can post.  Also, you have to make sure that your video is of one of the following file types: 3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p, asf, avi, divx, dv, dvx, flv, gif, moov, mov, mp4, mpeg4, mpg4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, qt,  wmv, xvid, rm
Different cameras will record using different file types, but it should be good.

Try it...  just upload and link it just like you do pictures!  =)

This site doesn't appear to support having the actual video play, but you can link it like so...  The following is a test of a photobucket vid (sorry that it's not a fig vid...):

Thanks ccc1

Great info.

Martin this is a great idea and I would be glad to help out with this. I am very busy at the moment but I will reply to this post in a week with the full details how to do it.

I will try to make it easy and fun!

Hey Guy's

I might be speaking out of school here but!

Jon has to pay for bandwidth to maintain this wonderful site!

Might keep that in mind!

Lets see what he says??

What say you Jon??.

i'm actually building a video studio on my property (this is true, in the middle of building it). who knows? this could send a talented young fig on his or her way to stardom :).

As promised I am going to write a bit about posting videos.

First I am not going to go into to much details to keep things simple.

1. The videos I posted on my website are not hosted on it. If you look at http://alicja.dyns.cx/polski12/videos you will notice the YouTube logo. The only thing I did is copy and past the link into my website

2. There are many video services but I prefer to stick to YouTube since everyone knows YouTube and this is a guarantee for a maximum of publicity

3. You can upload videos up to a size of 2GB but their length cannot exceed 10 minutes. (You can always cut your video in two with a video editor)

4. For a simple guide on how to upload a video to YouTube see http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=57924

I am also skipping the part on how to maximize the quality of your video since this could confuse a few...

I hope this is going to help you out on how to do it

btw I am less active these days since I am thousands of miles away from Montreal. ( I am also on my way to fig paradise...)
