Malta Black

Here is Malta Black  #35  said to be grandparent to Celeste and propagated from its parent tree bought from Belleclare Nursery #35 from the person who sent to me.

Last winter i split in half and sent out half  to Southern State and i grow other half here.
This tree will make a fine looking specimen as a single trunk fig tree for me .

Super Tasty, but can't explain, all I know you will be pleased+ resist better than many,to rain having a very tight eye.
So :Strong grower, Excellent taste, resist souring in rainy climates,it is hard to find a better one in our eastern and southern climatic condition.
Of course there may be other just as tasty or better, but I doubt they will have all the positives,Malta Black have in one ,package with no negative.

So Herman how about comparing and contrasting Malta Black with Kathleen Black.  Thanks.

It's a good tasting fig for sure. For some reason birds ignored all other figs and went after Malta black for the second year in the row. Something in this fig attracts birds.

Yes,it has a similar taste like Celeste, but positivelly does not drop any fruits,it keeps all of them, and that is very important.
----Comparing to Kathleen Black:---?
Well,it is hardier, smaller in size, and easier to grow by new Gardener, and ,it has different taste and flavor.
The Brix(sweetness should be the same ),at least 20,when properly ripe.

Awesome looking tree, Martin.  This one has been on my list for a bit, I'm eager to see pics of fruit and growth.  I know a couple others with it, but most are either not producing fruit yet or barely producing fruit.

And another fig gets added to the 'want' list...

This board should be called Enablers4Fun. ;)

Herman Sir,

Could you put together a top ten for Southern garderners for us? I would really appreciate it.
