Malta Black - Belleclare

Hello everyone, Hope you guys are all having a fantastic weekend.  Just wondering if anyone might have some Malta Black - Belleclare cuttings available for sale? If you do, please send me a PM. Thank you!

Any difference between this one and simply Malta Black that people have?
I got mine from Bass, for example.

The one Bass has I believe it is the same one as the Belleclare. The reason I mention Malta Black - Belleclare is because there seems to be a confusion between Malta and Malta Black - Belleclare. Malta is the same fig as Celeste. Although Malta Black - Belleclare is also related to Malta (Celeste) it actually contains different genes.

I don't have any cuttings to take off of my tree this winter, but I can tell you it is a winner. Keep up your search, it's not too hard to come by.

I have it but it is planted in-ground and is one of the three varieties that only has minimal protection because of its size.  It is 7 deg F with blizzard like conditions here with a low of zero predicted tonight. I am expecting that this one will die back to its base unfortunately.  So no, not having a fantastic weekend weatherwise!

Anyway, if you haven't found it by next Fall feel free to contact me.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to give me some feedback and possibly helping me acquire this variety. Thank you cis4elk and Rewton! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just sharing some photos of the newest members to join my garden!

That is a nice line up.

Can't wait to see them grow and produce some fruit. I have other varieties that I still need to take pictures of.

Karla,

Nice collection. I was just reading about the mechanism by which environment affect gene expression. I wonder if some these variants (e.g. Malta/Malta Black(?)) are actually the same fig, but with some genes turned on or off.

Dale,

Thanks, its definitely worth researching. There are so many things to take into consideration. Yet the outcome might end up inconclusive at the end. Simply because environment, medium not to mention handling of material can completely change the outcome.

Very impressive.  They look great!

So great! Very impressive too!
By the way, are plastic pots better than clay pots?

Fantastic success, a great collection, congrats!

Amazing lineup. Well done!
