Hi PM,

Glad that you are happy with your MPR (GM#1).
Rain highly distorts figs appearance and taste.
Recently, I went to re-visit the mother tree, only
to find that it was 'kaput'; due to some site 'improvement'.

Here are pics of two recently harvested figs that
also got 'rain' distorted, but still (watery) edible;
GM#2 (Malta Mission) and MBvs.

Others were in a much worse condition, with the Brunswick (types) literally exploding.

Thank you gorgi.

Bringing this thread back to life. :)

I purchased my Malta Purple Red tree from Vinnie in WV in July 2013.  It grew slowly in 2013 and in 2014 but really took off this year and produced a lot of very nice fruits for me over a long season.  I don't know if they were caprified or not.  In the past, wasps did not fly very far to my fig trees but I've seen some evidence that they have developed stronger flying habits since some of my smyrna types were productive even though I didn't bother to place many caprifigs around them.
