Maltese Beauty GM 155

I lied.  First thing I did when I got home tonight was get the flashlight.

Not harvested.   Soft, but only 1 crack.

Look this beauty WOW. Dan thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous looking figs.. Thanks for the pic.

Looks great, Dan, thanks for sharing!

OK here goes.  I picked both figs.  The bottom fig that was touching the bark had ants inside.   I cut around it and I ate it anyway, but in that haste forgot to take photos.  I was too excited.  It wasn't pretty anyway.  The attached photo is of the second fig that may have needed 1 more day, but was still very good.    The figs were very sugary sweet and Jammy.  No fruity overtones, but this fig is a very young tree.  The skin was thin and the seeds gave it just enough crunch.  I remember tasting the first figs on my Celeste and wanting to spit it out.    This variety for me is the most vigorous grower this year.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy.

Nice. I hope the figs are as good as we all hope.

Looks good, ants add an extra crunch too, if they are in my fig then they are subject to being eaten.

I thought this might be cool, so I took the third fig and snapped a photo each day for the last few days.   Thought I would share some more images.

Nice!

i need one of that really bad.. lol looks wonderful.

My goodness - just beautiful !!

Great pics, hope it tastes as good as it looks. The white spot on the upper half  looks kinda like a dove or maybe an airplane....

Congratulations,

Your tree looks very healthy and I have really enjoyed your photos and tasting notes.

MB 155 -that sound like a mercedes benz of figs.

thanks for the pics.

That is an amazing amount of growth!

All Chopped up.jpg  I chopped this baby up and shared as much as I could this last season.  Looking forward to seeing it fruit again for me.  I stood it up straight and replanted it in this 26" pot.  Automatic dripper with 200 PPM N.   Look for photos again in August.

Thanks

Great!  Is that a breba on it?  Hope it come roaring back and tastes twice as good!

No Brebas. I cut off all but 1 tip.

it's the biggest new tree i have this yr. i need to move it to 3 gal or bigger sooner. i'm watering it everyday and it's using it up by next morning.. lol

Looking at older threads and came across this one, hopefully I will be able to scratch this one off my list this season.

Here she is all leafed out.

I can tell you worked on the structure, she looks great!  BTW I see at least 3 possible airlayers next spring :)

Can you post a couple of leaf pictures, if you have them?  I think mine, which grew well, may not be the real deal.  I won't know until a fig ripens, I left 2 on.  Come on warm November...
