Gorgeous appearance.

My Maltese Falcon is not producing anything this year not even any embryos to speak of.  So I'm not sure what's happening this year.  It's probably a three year old tree.

MF is definitely a fussy tree, and so far not willing to bear early. Mine is 3 yrs also, it was starting to set embryos early on but a good jolt of cold took care of that. Maybe next year.

This are main crop. It's a potted tree that was over wintered in a greenhouse. Good quality fig. It's very similar to black mission.

My MF is an eBay plant that has grown one straight cane and is now around four feet tall without any branching. Do you think I should pinch off the terminal bud to encourage branches and possibly figs? I'd like it to stay more bush like if possible. Or try an air layer there?

Yes pinching will encourage branching.

Mara,

Yours sounds like mine. I am doing a double airlayer, it will make good trade plants.  It seems real aggressive grower, I wonder if that might contribute to the delayed fruiting for folks. Maybe one of those plants that needs tough love. Stress it out some to initiate fruiting. Some fruit respond in to stress in a fruiting effort. Not that I have noted that in figs, and until I get a backup from that airlayer I will not be torturing mine.

it tastes very good, tastes as good or better than black mission. I don't think they have acidity, just like an average good fig.

@alanmercierca -- you are correct. Lesson learnt -- avoid getting "ga-ga" over varieties. In my zone, M.Falcon is not
much better tasting than varieties that I now term as average tasting.
