Martin, the chestnuts started dropping a week ago and will continue dropping until November. We roasted some last night. They are very nice with red wine.

Theman,
I forgot to post pictures of the scuppernong grapes, pecans, passion fruit and flowering loquats. There are several more fruit trees that are resting and not posted (asian pears, anna apple etc).
Yup, North Florida does have its advantages.

Frank

frank - sounds like a little piece of heaven

Thanks for sharing Frank.

Been think about planting a persimmons tree. I guess now would be the right time.

Rafed, let me know the next time you're in the area. Would love to share what's in season. I think there is one month of the year when there is absolutely nothing to pick.

Frank, You have a nice garden. Your trees are enjoying your climate. Your persimmons seem to be the Sheng variety, are those Lang jujubes?

Thanks, Bass.

You are correct. I got them from Just Fruits and Exotics several years ago. What I like best about the Sheng is that you can easily quarter the fruit by hand. I also have the non-astringent  Fuyu variety. I have to fight the damn birds for both types.

JF &E calls this jujube Tigertooth. I also have  Li from Edible Landscaping which is round and matures earlier.

I would slap myself in the face repeatedly for some of those jujubes ;)

Looks great.  Those are really what catch my eyes, though.

Thanks Frank,
I'll take you up on the offer one day.
I had a couple Jujubes from Fanicks Nursery ( San Antonio ) last year and potted them.
Just didn't make it through the Winter.
I will be going to laredo this week so I might make a pit stop there if I have time and depending on were I will go from there.

Bass had mentioned Chocolate Persimmons one time and they carry it.
Caught my attention since then.

Jason,
If the slapping still stands I'll let you borrow my Ugly Stick.
Did you get my email?

@Rafed, got your email.  Baby got her first flu or cold the last couple of days, 11 month old....lots of time gets burned keeping up with caring for her, I'm behind (and nursing a sinus infection myself the last 8 days).  Still trying to get caught up with work after a recent trip to Miami to visit family (it was a bit of a disaster).

Just a note - even if you're just passing through, should you head down 75/85, give me a shout, I've got a tree waiting for you, I'll drive out to meet up and drop it off if the schedule works, even if it's only stopping for 5 mins.
