Am I wrong, but isn't it Nov 13, not Jan 13? We are supposed to have a low of 19 or 20 tonight, highs in the 30s or low 40s. About the same for 2 or 3 days. We will be right at records for the next several days and nights.

Luckily I had some time I could take off today. I quickly put my potted figs in the shed with a lamp for heat. Just now I pruned and covered my young Italian Black.  There are a couple more that I want to cover before it gets much colder, but today that was the best I could get done.

I can't hardly believe how early this cold is hitting here. It this is any indication we are in for another really hard winter. I was hoping for something a little more normal this year, but...

Yes!  Real, real cold! 

It was -1 when I was out this morning, I was happy to see the temp rise to 0.

I over winter my figs in the garage, I've moving them in and out with the weather for the last few weeks, looks like they will now be staying in until spring. 

I'm hoping for a wet winter here in Colorado, we always need the moisture, I'd pass on this arctic cold if it was up to me.  Lol

I thought it was supposed to be global warming but now I believe that the earth is gradually tilting and in a few years North Carolina will be the new North Pole.

They say that Typhoon Nuri went north and rammed the jet stream knocking cold polar air down. 
Hopefully this temporary and the El Nino arrives as expected and gives us a warmer winter.

It's 19f in Dallas, TX as well. Checked on some potted trees and there's ice on them.

Whta we had here for a week was a bonus to rush the figs inside.

It's a little bit strange thing, we have the contrast. Now we have very mild autumn here, the temperatures between 10-15 C, usually the temperatures in this time of the year are between 0-7C.
The same thing happened last year when you had very cold winter, we had winter, but it was like a cold autumn, there were'nt colder temperatures than -10C.
