Manure = moles, moles & more moles :(

When Spring sprung here, I thought I had "hit the jackpot"
when I found a place that would not only give me free horse manure, but would also load it in my truck! I got a pickup truckload of it and put it around my in-ground fig trees.

I think that brought every mole in my county to my fig trees.

Long story short, I will be using 8-8-8 fertilizer next spring.

Some have called Jon's place out in San Diego "fig paradise"

that might well be true, I must be in fig hell, what with RKN, Gophers, moles not to mention enough heat to fry eggs on the sidewalk.........IF I HAD a sidewalk.

I feel better now! I have VENTED!
Happy Gardening Ya'll

Cecil from reading your posts it doesn't seem like you've had much luck and I wish you the best and that things will turn around for you. Also I believe you have a good sense of humor I hope. Your luck reminds me of a movie called
" A Bronx Tale" Starring Robert De Niro, anyway your luck reminds me of a character named Mush I believe, if you ever have the opportunity to see it I think you"ll get a chuckle. Great movie and my old stomping grounds.
Best of luck.
Sal

Hi Sal,

As a matter of fact I think I have a good sense of humor!

We have a saying around here about "bad luck" but if I said it here, it for doggone sure would get me booted from this Great Forum, so I will not do that. And, yes I will be on the lookout for that movie, I have memory like Elephant, so I will watch it when I get a chance, Thanks.
Now where the heck did I put that mouse??????

When Robert De Niro had trouble finding a suitable actor to portray Eddie Mush, he asked Chazz Palminteri if they could find the real Eddie Mush to play himself. They found Eddie Montanaro in the same neighborhood still losing bets. After casting him, they became worried that Eddie Mush would "jinx" the film. On Montanaro's first day of filming, it rained.

Sal,

You said Eddie Mush lived in da Bronx?

I think he might be around here!??

And further more, I think he is trying (key word trying) to grow figs ;-)

I'm glad you can laugh my luck isn't much better, but humor helps us get by.
I believe HD might have some granules for moles should be that hard to treat with a spreader.

Yep........

I'll drank to that!

u replied b4 my edit on hd

Yes,

I have read up (kinda) on that way to control moles, but from what I've read on it, the verdick is out on how good it is. (now Jon don't go reading something that ain't there into that)(I thinks I misspelled something.)

Thanks Sal BTW, tell uncle Sal we said Hey.

Cecil if that does not work you know of folks from chicago area , just find them mole holes and put 1 stick of D in em stand back and no moles or RKN least for a little while, and you have ready made hole for new plant or plants
 ; )

Yes Martin,
That would work........I guess

Jus tellum to brought themselves on up hea!

I'll spring foe da Beer

Hi Tom,

From what I've read, moles do not eat roots (gophers sure do)

the moles eat the insects that find the horse manure (my thinking)

Then while the darn mole is making his tunnel around the roots they get dried out because of no soil, and the root will die.......I guess?
