Mario # 98

To help me with name confusion I number all my plant followed by the name to the best of my knowledge or a name I give them just for reference of where they came from. This started as a cutting August 2014 ,Borgo Scopeto is where it came from, the letter B differentiates the different cuttings from same place . These are the first figs ever on this plant they look great , hope they will survive. I will try to keep posting pictures as they grow ( hopefully) and maybe together we can figure out what kind it is.

Hi Mario,
Very hardy looking fig. Please keep us informed with pictures. Thank you.
Ciao Phil

Like the number system you use. Mine system has flaws lol. I will be glad to try to figure out what you have there. I went ahead and bought those aluminum tags that you write on them and it leaves a impression on it. I write where it came from on one side and the name and date on the other.

Good luck with this fig Mario!
Looks like it has a breba/fiorone  on every node!!
Great fig to grow in cool climates.  Nothing beats having nice fresh figs to eat in July even if the main crop ends up being a smyrna type and drops or is a late ripener.

$300 on ebay.

Richie; i use stainless steel washers and scribe the number on them. Lately i cut up old vertical blinds and punch a hole on one end to tie to tree, the nice thing about vertical blinds you can write on them very easy with pencil and it stays on longer then permanent marker.

Pino this UNK figs are like a box of chocolates:
"You never know what you going to get"

rcantor, if it turns out to be any good you can have one for shipping

Very nice Mario - love all the pics of your fig trees and your numbering system. Hopefully you'll share some more with us in the upcoming months, especially the monster #2 that needed the hammock ;)

Hope this is a winner for you

Tanks Matty, long iland isn't to far from Connecticut, your welcome to stop by anytime to check out the monster in the hammock.

Oh my.... Mario, what is that monster? Any name yet or still a number?

Woa, looks great! So curious to know more about these 2 varieties.

Mario (the other one)

Matt, sometime this summer would be great!

Mario, your fig looks great, hopefully you get to ripen those figs and enjoy them.
I use Aluminum tags, and still end up with missing tags, when they get blown away by the wind or inadvertently misplace the when pruning. The ties could break too.
When rooting or repotting, I try to put the tags as fast as I can. If I don't, I might end up with a fig tree, called unsure and it becomes an unknown.

Hello Mario.
Great looking figs you have, hope you get to eat all of them.

Vito

Vito, with 8 grandkids i be lucky to taste any and my wife eats anything they miss.

Sas, i put a lot of effort in keeping everything tagged, very important! Using a number code makes it easier, i write the number on the tree with a paint pen as soon as i can.
