Anyone have any experience with the martinenca ramada fig tree? I see one selling on e bay going for almost 200.00.any help is greatly appreciated.

It's a Sport of a Spanish fig that is red stripped

Anything like a panache?is it rare?I want this tree soooo bad.i just dont know if its worth 200.+

No panache (bordisotte blamce rimada) is only one of a large number or stripped figs. There's even leopard figs.
It is very rare and It's worth what ever your willing to pay.

Thank you celt.much appreciated.lol this hobby is expensive and really addictive.

Just get some rare ones then you have some trading fodder.

I have about 20 different trees or so but idk what is and isnt rare just yet.im new to the mayhem. Lol

My collection so far.a few come from my families home town in italy. Some go back a long ways.

Ralph, those trees would all very much be honored to have the company of Martinenca Rimada! Think of it as an investment! :)

Does anyone have any info on other variegated varieties?

Feast your eyes here: http://www.figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/My-Montserrat-Pons-varieties-selection-6200610?

Like some other figaholics, I've purchased this book so that I can stare at the photos offline as well. :)

Thanks harvey.

Another nice looking one that's similar appearance is "Bordissotte Negra-Rimada".

I will ask M. Pons for permission to post some pictures from his book.

Edit: It is on post #11

Wonder if rigata rosa A is Martinenca ramada

That is the same fig that was auctioned on this forum by mnedelcu and won by Dave.  And the one on ebay I believe is being sold by Bass with Tree's of Joy.  Those might be some great people to ask about this fig variety.

Celt, the variegated fig varieties are a naturally appearing sport on known varieties, also known Chimera. Martinenca is usually a black variety in Balearics islands, and I'm assuming a branch of the tree that was discovered to have variegation was taken and propagated at some point. The same with panache, and other variegated types. The Rigata Rosa was selected from an Italian variety and probably similar but I doubt it is the same.

Up to $400 now with a day left. Wow. What's the old record for a fig tree on ebay?

$435 maybe?

I remember seeing a galicia negra way up there.

Jolly Tiger over $700 a couple years ago.

400.00 im shell shocked.maybe I made a mistake not bidding higher.i feel I missed something great.

If it is beyond your budget (I know it eclipses mine), be patient. Wait a couple of years and it should be much more affordable. All the hot figs eventually come down as more folks acquire them. Who knows? You might get lucky and a generous member may get a cutting to you sooner. Happens all the time here. Good luck!

Its worth every penny.

Yes- if you are active, patient and kind wishes do come true here.

Lol feels like x mas

Cuttings of rare varieties make a great christmas gift for fellow forum members ;)
