Martinenca Rimada

This fig has been a slow grower for me and it did not help when I gave it a sunburn.  I just up potted it and moved it back into the greenhouse thinking the heat will do it good and trying to keep the figs away from a chipmunk problem I working on solving.  Unlike the panachee it eventually ripens to a dark fig.

Tom,

Mine is very similar to yours but has not fruited yet.
Maybe just not the right climate for this cultivar?

We should know more about it in a year or two.

Looks Espectacular, Keep us posted on the taste.

Mine is growing, but not great.  I  may move it to another location.

Congratulations to all who have this.  I hope it tastes great for you and you make a fortune on ebay!

Here is mine, Tom.

Can you try to compare the two? Yours and mine.

A beautiful fig. Good luck.

This is an interesting thread.  I have a very young M.R.  and won't see figs until next year at the earliest.  For those of you growing this variety, does anyone know what the flavor profile is like?  Even if you have just heard about the taste 2nd hand it would still be interesting to know more.  All is know is from Pons' photos of how beautiful the fruit looks (when grown in his environment anyway).

Steve,

Per Pons book,
Dulce, muy sabroso: sweet, very tasty.

Thanks for the come back, Tom.

I've been pumping 20-20-20 into it along with many other figs. I use a table spoon with the 2gl watering bucket just about every week to ten days. I will stop adding fertilizer sometime in mid July. Not concerned about it fruiting now really. I want it to grow.

But I would like to see the main trunk add to its' girth though.

I See. Good job Rafed!
