The VdB looks a little early. Otherwise...enjoy!

Bullet i know its hard when figs first begin ripening process in the season but reframe from picking as long as you can the Vdb .

Pick the darn white figs if your Jones in.   ; )

VdB is little green, but I know it will still taste awesome... but I'll leave it on for now.. I'll just pick the VdB breba that's not on pix :) There are few more of those darned Paradiso Gene to get picked.

I love those ripening cracks on your Paradiso Gene.  Very appealing.

Its like the murderers row of fig cultivars lol. Hope you enjoy Pete and as always looking forward to the pictures

 Pete

Gina,

I offered Paradiso Gene cuttings before, but nobody wanted them. Nor did anyone wanted VdB cutting. They are both proven quality to me. But everyone wanted Kathleen's Black which I'm still waiting on. I have 2 KB breba ready to be picked tonight. I hope they don't let me down.

Bullet i think because VdB has been around the block but still in my opinion a very fine tasting fig.

KB is getting lots of attention it seems recently as it may have not been around the block as much and or pictures are coming out onto the forum as it ripens for some member etc.

I don't think I was here yet when you offered the Paradiso Gene. Maybe next time. :)

The KB cuttings I got from you are doing very nicely. Thank you. Thus far I have 2 rooted with little shoots growing, and a third with roots and buds swelling green. It's been a cool summer here on the coast, mostly in the 70*s. I'm hoping we don't get heat spell, which I don't think would be good for them.

As mentioned in another thread, I purchased VdB from two different sources - slightly different. And they both have fruit developing this year. I have great hopes for them. I don't care how many times they've been around the block. :)

By the way, the plate of cut figs you showed in the other thread look yummy!

Great looking figs Pete. can't wait to hear your opinion of the taste of these varieties. Paradiso Gene and VDB are particularly pretty figs in these pics

Pete,

Can you please add a couple more pictures of your Kathleen?
From that angle it looks like more rounder than the tear drop shape of the NDC.

Thanks

I wouldn't bet against being related but not the same- seems still like the Million dollar ? still

I'm with Gina on that Paradiso. Of all the ones you posted that's the one I want to pick. I'll keep my eyes peeled for cuttings. Nudge me if I forget.

rafed,

that's a breba. the main crop is more tear drop shape. i have one that's turning color right now. i'll post seperate pix when it's done.

gina, nicole,

i gave all my cuttings to cub scouts this year.. i'm not sure if any made it. their little sisters keep pulling them out of cup to see if there are roots.. lol

if i have Paradiso Gene cutting available this fall, i'll let you guys know.

I ate some figs today that look a lot like that Paradiso.  Do you have some pics of the leaves, Pete?

jason,

here are the leaves. this is mature leaf. some has 3 lobes.

My mom said when I was a small child, I would pull up her plants to see what was below the soil surface. Guess things haven't changed that much, lol.
