MBVS

Hi Folks,

4th leaf just completed, very vigorous growth for me.

I'd advise staying on top of this one early and pinching relentlessly every 5th-7th node to an outside bud for the first few years.

Allowed the tree to run for the 2nd and 3rd year fruit. On this one and the vista
I actually considered air layering some of these large branches to bring the
fruiting wood closer to the ground.Decided against it this year but they are
running close to that 8' ceiling.

Interior structure.

The air layer.Closely pruned.

I'd rather the structure was good when I pull it off the tree.

Thanks for looking, that's it for today.

Cheers,

Tree has a great shape! What are you using the agribon for, as a tree wrap? Agribon is great stuff, just never see it layed out like you have it there.

Super nice Paul, structure looks great to me, and the air layer will have a nice form when removed. It should have good branching and the existing 3. MBVS is super, congrats and good growing.

I must say nice looking tree great shape !

Thanks for the advice on pinching...

Beautiful well maintained trees, thanks for the pics.

Thanks for sharing all the great pics today! I can't believe how big your trees grew in 4 yrs! Must be nice.

Great form!  What is the Argribon for?  Windbreak?

He is just using the white fabric as a background so we can see the form of the tree clearly ( he said so in another post of his nice trees)

Absolutely beautiful shape on that tree!

Nice tree in nice climate.
Show us a pix in July ,loaded with fruits!
Then we will envy you even more LOL.!

great tree Paul.
i would like to ask something about your airlayer.
when are you planning on removing them?
i always thought that roots did grow in the winter but only if they started before the plant went dormant.
this to me looks like a new airlayer.
would it not root faster and safer if you started it in march?
or should i just start some of mine now?
again thanks for the pictures and info.

Hi Herman,

I'll try,but it'll just be a wall of green.Between the containers in the "pathways"
and encroaching growth from the in ground stuff there's little space to maneuver.

Hi Andreas,

The air layers are being placed now because 3 weeks from now I'll have tomato starts
on the brain. No wood is scored or bark removed on the air layers. No water is added and
they have yet to be enclosed w/foil.I've probably another 10 to put up within the next
week.As far as when they are removed, that's up to how fast it fills the container.I think
last year some came off in May and others later.

Cheers,

Paul
