MBVS & Blk Madeira waking up

Both first year trees are just starting to leaf out. The rest of mine are still dormant but some are showing green buds so hopefully they will leaf out soon
Blk Madeira is small 4 in pot and my one and only inground fig in backround my UK blk

Sal

That's great news Sal.
Good to see them waking up.

But I'm a little concerned about the use of the water retaining tray as shown on the big red pot. In my opinion this is not the right time of year to resort to that. I can see the benefits of using them in July or August when the day time temps are high and reduce the need of watering twice per day.

Not trying to slam you but I too plan on using them but will hold off till then.
Or maybe you have your own reasons and I'll respect that.

Thanks for the pix.

Rafed  good eye I removed all saucers except for that one reason being It's a 3 year old pot and brittle If i try to lift it will more than likely crack the tree in that one was recently potted and root pruned I do have an extra for stand by. The saucers in the growing  months definitely help here from what I've seen last year

Thanks for the heads up what the heck is taking them others to wake up even one which I did nothing to this year is not leafing out. Last year they did not go dormant so maybe they need more rest lol
Sal

Sal,
They say a well rested child will develop into an active child.
This could be good, I hope.

Rafed  I sure hope you are right I'm looking forward to this season The blk unknown in ground gave me quite a few figs last year for it's size and was in 3 gal pot so I'm expecting to get some nice cuttings to share and hopefully a few figs if i can beat the wild life to them lol

Sal

Sal,
Speaking of wildlife. I plan on installing a couple of plastic owls with mechanical heads. That should help keep the critters away!

Hi Sal,
that madeira has a nice thick trunk.
Your plants are way ahead of mine leafing out already, and im over here in illinois trying as hard as i can.  ; )
Gosh 1 day i keep saying 1 day.
Thanks for sharing them pictures and of course want to see many more!
