This Melanzana is the long version.

The breba July 8, was one of the earliest ripening and much smaller than I had expected.  A 2nd year plant assume it will get bigger as it grows.  It was very sweet with a rich caramel jammy taste and some seed crunch.  Way up there on my taste scale.

The Melanzana main crop again was one of the earliest Aug 28.   2nd year plant has 4 figs 2 already ripe.  The taste was sweet, strong figgy aroma, juicy, seed crunch, nice flavour but not as rich as the breba.

Update on my Melanzana (long version)
Waited to see if the honey would start to push out of the ostiole on the remaining figs.  Didn't happen and the fig was getting soft so I picked yesterday.
This one was noticeable riper than the other one. I thought I may have lost it to spoilage.
It turned out to taste amazing.  Extremely sweet, strong pleasant figgy aroma, chewy skin, juicy and rich flavour similar to the breba earlier this year.

Thanks Francisco and Dale!

Forgot to mention that the Pettite Negri and VdB were very nice, sweet and tasty and similar.  Very happy to have these 2 new figs!

Thanks Pino for sharing and congratulations. The figs seems really good

Looks great

Thanks for the great pics Pino.
I have sometimes wondered if my MM (not) was really melanzana.
From your pics of fruit and leaves, it is not.

It certainly looks tasty Pino! Good job

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I am trying to get a Lounge D'Aout to see if they are the same fig as some postings indicate.

Either way this seems to be a nice tasting fig and produces brebas and main crop.  Hasn't dropped any figs yet there are 2 more figs swelling now on this young single stem plant with a tiny sucker coming from the roots.

Pino.
Your Melanzana looks just like my Logue D'Aout (Melenzana merdescola).

Thanks for letting me know Vito!

Even tho they are the same they might be different in health.
I have three different Longue D'Out and they all came under different names ,and each one of them ,resist my climate, some better, some not so good.
I have one from Canada, one from Niagara region, and one from Carmelitana ,Italy.
Out of them all so far the one from Carmelitana is totally healthy, and resist Winter best, the other 2 show a few signs of mottling leaves in some years.
I keep all three, because the fruits are delicious an all.

Thanks Vasile that is useful to know!

Mine came locally.   The cutting grew very slowly.
But then after up-potting and getting some compost in the soil mix it started drinking heavily and growing well.   It seems to be doing well now.
