Is it a early ripen fig. I have Melanzana calabrese cuttings rooting dont know a whole lot about them. Also what is AF ?

Congratulations!

Thanks Paul this fig looks very nice!  Are you growing this in ground?

Hi Richie I think AF stands for Adriano Ferreira from whom Paul got this fig.

When I spoke to Adriano about his Melanzana fig I understood it is the fig from S. Italy i.e. Melanzana Calabrese.

These clear photos to me don't look like LdA photos I have seen so this finally solves a little mystery for me.:)

Thats what i saw too. Doesn't look like LdA at all.

My tree came from Prof.M.Bostock -- he had traded with Adriano. My tree is in-ground with no winter
protection for over 8 years. It gives me a yummie main crop every year. Pictures were last year.

When do you harvest your main crop? no brebas?

Looks great Paul!

Beautiful fig and it looks delicious too !! Glad to confirm also the shape is nothing like my Pellegrino, I have a Melanzana calabrese coming and I was afraid they might have been the same

Pictures taken on 29th August 2015. Last year winter & spring was warmer and hence summer came early. Usually
my Melanzana AF starts ripening by 3rd week Sept. It produces a smaller breba crop. My mother tree is shaded by a plum
tree and yet the fig gets a pretty dark skin. Fig size is small to medium.

Came to me as Melanzana. Not sure whether it is Melanzana Calabrese. If I remember correctly, the pictures I have seen
for a ripen M.Calabrese interior is less intense redness and the outer skin is not as dark.

Fig Melanzana Merdoscola is Longue d'Aout. I got this variant directly from Adriano.

Beautiful fig. Nice clear photos.

Looks nothing like my Melanzana.  Melanzana is an enlongated shaped fig.  Your looks like Marseilles Black to me.  IMHO.  Be blessed!

cheers,

some of the figs are pyriform especially the brebas. I have MVSB.

Looks very nice and productive variety. :)
