Message to Jon and my friends (update post #$49)

Brent, you're right.  Let's start a new thread on that.  Would you chime in there so more people will see it?

Glad your sticking around. ;)

Gorgi should help you out...

I have been away for a while and have only popped in occasionally to read a few posts. As a newbie, I don't post much but I do read a lot of the posts until recently. Just been working too darn much. I'm glad everyone is staying because we are all able to learn so much from each other. Just wanted to say thanks for any & all help you've given me.

Wow! What is happening? I was away for few days and the first thread I read is this.
Rafed, I am glad you decided to stay. Our path did not cross but i enjoyed your posts.

Good call Rafed, you made the right choice.

Only just came across this thread coz of Tam's x ref. in another thread about an alleged message from Jesus.

Dunno what's supposed to have have transpired between Aaron & Rafed (or was it other forum members?), but whatever it was, I hope it's ancient history by now.

@ Rafed - So glad you decided to stay. I would also have joined in the chorus that begged you to reconsider. If you left, how would we be able to compare notes on our giant air layers? Remember this?:

If not, check your post at #16 for a refresh.

My giant air layer is a disaster. Water found its' way into the soil. I had sealed the bags very tight. I poked holes and the water drained like a faucet. Since the bags were being held by the pots I added some more soil and left the bags opened.

The tree does not appear to be effected by all this so I will leave it alone and possible through the winter and on to the next season.

Have nothing to lose at this point.

I will keep you updated.

*Also could everybody please remove variety names and keywords (rooting, cuttings, air-layers, dehydration, diseases, etc.) from their signatures, it makes using Google to search the forum much more difficult, if not impossible. Thank you for your understanding.

And what the fig is Viglink and is it really worth screwing up the function of the site for a few bucks?

Somehow I missed this. Is it still important?

Sorry to hear that Rafed. I gather the black sack and wrap it securely around the trunk above the container, then tie it tight enough to remove any entry points for rain water without risking girdling. It's also important to ensure that the open end of the container is covered by a single piece of sacking. The water should then just run off. You must have overlooked a possible entry point. Water is notorious for finding a way in if you give it half a chance.

Still, better luck next time. Although I've managed to avoid that problem, I'm still not home & dry (pun intended) quite yet. I've still to find out if my giant layer is viable, but I won't know for sure till next spring. I'll update the thread when I know for sure.

Hershell, until the forum hosts, websitetoolbox.com decide to change the signature function back to the way it was, Google will see the signatures and deliver false hits. In this instance the forum search function was not an option, but at this time for normal searching it is the best option, because of this new problem of false hits on Google.

Bob had a great idea that hides the text in sigs by making it a picture, like mine, or it can just be blank. I just cut out a section of photo that is about 60 x 1100 pixels and then inserted the text. If you want to use the one i didn't be my guest.
