Miracle Gro Fruit and Citrus tree fertilizer spikes

Hi there. I'm in New Jersey and have two fairly large inground Celeste. I have not fertilized them this year. They do get fertilized with the lawn indirectly with Milorganite. Anyway, I have a huge Peach tree that I put a couple of spikes around the drip line just for the heck of it. Is it worthwhile to use them on the fig trees or should I just let them be? They have a bunch of small fruits that started to emerge. Thanks!

Your trees look great. They don't need the spikes. They don't need any other fertilizer either.

The spikes aren't a good way to fertilize anything. I don't know of a single experienced grower that uses them or recommends the spikes on any kind of fruit tree.

Milorganite is fine for your lawn, but it contains high levels of heavy metals from the sewage sludge from which it is made. I would keep it away from a vegetable garden or fruit trees. You don't want to be injesting this stuff via edible plants like your fig tree.
