Very nice, Martin. I wonder what caused it to get that color?

Watch it closely Martin, it might be a bud sport. But then looking closer, I see the main branch has some color also. Who knows? Very nice looking.
"gene"

TusconKen - not a big deal for me to get the coloring in plants as a few others in yard do similar . The wood will harden and darken soon loseing that color on this monrovia mission plant.

Genecolin - thats not the main trunk its just branch growing out of main and it will harden and darken soon loseing that color.
Leaf stems though will stay pinkish hue , early in season there green .

Here is a few other types doing somewhat similar i snap for fun.

I just try to show the beauty of some plants that others may miss in the fast pace world as i can enjoy them so much more now retired.

I thought that was normal and my theory is that is caused by the sun. It is sort of like the plant equivalent of a tan, fruit trees like peaches develop a red tint to the actual fruit from sunlight exposure and so do their young branches.

Hi Chuckchuck ,
over the seasons i have noticed it to be normal for some just not all my fig plants.
Some of my types never have displayed any color than green.
Although i dont find it abnormal nor unusual in the ones that do display some colors.
Just a little prettier looking to me. ; )

Would it be just the very dark figs that get some redish coloring when the branches and stems are young?  I've noticed only the black figs of mine have tinges of red here and there.  My Negronne is showing the most red.

noss

Noss could be , i have some between 2-4 seasons old never showed any other color than green but then again some of my others did same until they were more mature.
