Looks great--how do you manage to get such rapid progress in Chicago, when in Tucson's heat and sunshine my in-ground, +- 10 year old Black Mission is nowhere near as far along? (Maybe it's because mine froze way back this year and has mostly re-sprouted from the base.) Anyway, nice figs!

Ken im no expert grower but i assume there getting spoiled by Dieseler.
There in containers .
They get wake up call in early spring
They get taken in when nights get to cold in early spring
They get fed to grow
They get watered when thirsty
They get limb haircuts
They get root haircuts when needed every 2-3 years
They get put in sheltered place in winter and get to snore to sleep a deep sleep here.

Other than that they give me figs and im happy but they do grow on there own i do nothing magical and the ones that dont get fired .  ; )

I like your remarks Martin.  A lot of time, effort, learning, money, help from forum members, failures, frustrations, successes, go into growing figs.  They are our babies.  My fig trees are usually in need of a haircut and the potted trees  are in about 2 sizes smaller pots than what they should be in.  The burn pit is a difficult trip to make especially when one finds out that beautiful tree is a Smyrna type or a Capri fig three years after growing it from a cutting.  I have 3 Kalamata trees that are probably candidates, Zidi and Milco too, the Milco had nice size figs and they all aborted.  You do have that magic green thumb Martin, but the threat of being fired may help. Maybe being specialized in dark figs helps. :). All of the fig trees I have from you are doing well.

C.H. thats great to hear they are doing well, one day perhaps you can post pictures i enjoy pictures of folks on the forum showing there plants and thanks for the comments. ;  )

Nice plant Martin. When are you going to start teasing us by posting the rip figs photos?

I am very tempted to plant my Blk Mission in ground since it's time to up pot my CddN and I don't have any large sized 20+g containers. If I do plant it in ground, it will not be wrapped/protected this winter or any winters. It has a massive root system that I am sure will send out new suckers, if gets killed to the ground.

Best,
Navid.

Figs start to ripen on my tree around mid August depending on how the fig shuffle went.
Im guessing similar around 3rd week of August they start give or take a week.

Mission will take longer as plant is still adjusting cause its young as well as some others in yard.
