I waited for this thing to ripen. I watched patently for this thing to grow big and ripen. It took a week to turn black. I picked it and I even used my best chef knife made for me by the kikuichi company. I was thoroughly disappointed in the flavor the texture and sweetness was there but boring the mission flavor just wasn't there.
I don't know your location, but that is typical of most brebas in the cool early summer of southern California. For that reason I do not worry about brebas, and prune for size control and don't fret about not getting many brebas. But see White Adriatic for a rare exception.
I am in southern nj. Yeah that adriatic looks real nice. A lot better than that thing I had. But it was the only breba I had on any tree this year and ny mission never gave me one before so I thought I would try it.
I am all in favor of trying, but results are often disappointing. Brebas work in the PNW because they ripen in the heat of late summer, like main crop figs do for most people.
The _ Celt ,here you can see Monrovia Mission Breba i took pictures of .http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5413753
