Misting

With technical help from daygrower (Jim) I set up a rudimentary misting area for some summer cuttings, and am glad I did... with temperatures hitting the 100's lately.

The best I could do with the timer was one minute of misting every hour from 10 AM to 5 PM.. I think it is helping.

Thanks Jim for the idea.

BTW:

Tomatoes in late August Florida heat. This has never happened to me before.

Glad to help Frank looks like they are doing good hope they all root - by the way get those little figs off those cuttings

Yup, I left that little fig on for the picture but it will soon be gone. Almost all the cuttings that you and JD generously donated are showing some green. There may be one or two, like the preto that will take some extra time.

Looks good Frank. What did you use for your timer, emitters, and hose? Tell us what you did; inquiring minds what to know.

Hey Jimmie,
I originally bought this mister...
http://www.amazon.com/Orbit-20066-Portable-Outdoor-Cooling/dp/B000P0KSXO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314542960&sr=8-1

...to cool down my summer tomato plants but never got around to installing it. I like the fact that it has brass nozzles.

I had a timer that wasn't being used, so for a total of $25 to $30 put together the rudimentary misting bed you see in the photos.

Jim has a professional system that mists for 10 seconds every 10 minutes during daylight hours.

Its just a different timer Frank your nozzles should last a lot longer.
I have an old mist setup that has brass nozzles and that thing lasted for 25 years the new one will have to have the nozzles changed every year the old one could still be cleaned and put back in use but it puts out a little more water than I wanted.
