Mole problems

Voles are tiny mice and moles are usually the size of rats and look like they have no eyes.

This may help you out and no chemicals, people around here have had great success with similar products (different manufacturer.)

Dale,
I know from experience you can easily dispatch moles in their tunnels with any decent firearm as they loosen up the topsoil pretty well not only letting you know where they are but making penetration much easier.
On the other hand -- watching a Jack Russell working is impressive if you can rent one because the problem with the terriers is they kill stuff like chickens, etc. You can put a gun away but a terrier must be confined.
mgg

Or, when your finished with the terrier . . . .  JUST KIDDING! I have watched the earth move as the moles tunnel and listen to it besides. I suppose one could carry while walking the yard. A 410 might have greater efficacy.  I live in town where people get a little excited at the report of gunfire, so it's not the first solution that comes to mind.

do more research the noise makers do not work. waste of money. trap trap trap. know get out there and get to trappin  soldier and good luck. e out

Maybe i could stick a garden hose in the tail pipe of my car and run it into the tunnel and let it run for about a half hour.

There is some plant that they clame if you plant it they will leave. not sure about this but have read about it many times.

put down some grub killer.

or d all of the above :)

I think Frank is on to something. Not only will it get rid of the moles but it should eradicate every varmint you have. Blast away!

Makes for good soil aeration too!

Frank i love the energy here, we are on the same page. but if i blow up my yard where will i plant the figs.

I just looked on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Pk-Solar-Sonic-Mole-Gopher-Vole-Rodent-Pest-Repellent-Repeller-s-Free-Shipping-/121047878082?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2f0409c2

might just have to give these things a try. and implament a few other tactics. do a little recon. see i just have to think of this like back in the day when i was is the 2nd of the 75th army rangers working side by side with the snake eaters of the 7th special operations group in south america. these moles are my enemy, i need good recon and intel. that way i can asses the situation and keep the hq secure. im just thinking about this all wrong.

change in plans, trapping is not the way. im with frank more powder though.

might be a little to extreem

Moles won't harm fig trees. Growing castor bean plants is supposed to deter moles. Just keep in mind that the seeds are very toxic and not something you want children to play with or consume.

moles may not hurt the roots of the fig tree but when the rain season is hear thier tunnels could run that water right to the roots and hold more water near the roots for a prolonged time possibly causing root rot.

Your soil type coupled with your location (in the floodplain or not) will be the driving factors on whether or not your soils stay saturated for long enough periods to cause root rot.

If you want to decrease moles on your property your best bet is probably to trap. You can buy kill traps that specifically target moles.

Com'on... anti-material gun like Macmillan with infrared scope. Set up a nest on top of the house and pick'em off. Ninja suit optional. And, it's not an "assault rifle" :) Enough penetration power to reach deep into the soil.

Yeah... TNT is over kill and they are noisy. If you want some fire work, shaped ribbon charge along mole tunnel and blast it downward.

I also like terrier idea. Organic food for the fido :)
