More Black Madeira fig pics

Good evening, I got a few more Black Madiera figs the other day.  I wasn't going to pick this fig but it started to ooze from the eye.  The weather here is starting to drop about 10 degrees but this fig STILL was awesome!  Cheers!

Dennis,

You are very lucky to enjoy the B/M fig. Congrats.

In my opinion, The B/M along with the Sals "C" and Ronde De Bordeaux are considered the "Triple Crown" of dark figs.

Though I haven't been lucky enough to enjoy either one of them yet I am very fortunate enough to have them.

Your posts get us just that more excited for next season.

Well done Dennis!

Thanks for the tease oops i meant pictures !

Thanks Rafed and Martin.  I purchased this tree from a member of this forum last year this time.  I paid $150 bucks on eBay.  When I got it, It was little and had one fig on it which fell off days later.  I nursed it repotted it and fed it.  And one year later, I got a nice tree with delicious figs.  Not many people of this forum are commenting on my success.  That's OK.  I'm not bragging.  I'm just thrilled and excited I got these hard to grow trees to bear fruit!  I am so happy with my results and want to share my success.  Maybe I can share my success with another.  If anyone wants to know what I did to get this tree to grow, email me privately.  Thanks guys!  One day, I will be a fig expert gardener like the rest of you.  cheers!

Dennis,

Glad to see you posting these pics. I'm always and very excited on ones success. It is good medicine and good health.

Keep up the good work and keep on posting.
Looking foreword to see what else you have to share.

I will be home tomorrow ( finally ). I have to teach a couple of squirrels a lesson.

Hi Dennis,

I'm so tied up with life right now that I haven't had much time to do anything shy of getting some friendly favor repayments in the mail.  Baby due in less than 2-3 weeks!  EEK!

I think it's amazing all of the success you've had, and man ... the weeping eye of that fig ... makes me hungry!

Thanks for posting all of the pictures.  Maybe when people realize how valuable of a member (you and I both know) you are, they'll start to pay attention to you ;)

I've met some really class guys and gals here and there over the last couple years, and while I'm not always posting due to craziness in my life, I relish in getting 5-10 minutes out of the day to stop in and look at pictures once a week or so.  Not much time to comment, though.

Keep posting Dennis!

You know I am reading your posts, making a list, and checking it twice. My fig experience lags yours by at least 12 months so you are a very good reference for me.

I'll say this again: it would be invaluable for me to read your growing routine and taste assessment of the fig cultivars in your orchard. It would be even better if it lived in a single post that you updated similar to what Dan has started over on GWFF.

As you have this year, if they make it through a Tallahassee winter, I should be tasting Black Madeira, MVSB, Paradiso, Atreano, and Strawberry next year.

PS: I am debating on whether or not to bring my potted figs into the garage or to build something around them outside.

Thanks Jason, JD, Rafed and Martin.  Next year, I am going to have so many figs!  Temps are starting to drop to the 40s and night and 60s in the day.  So, I have to go out and do some preFall cleanup.  I've already discarded 3 trees but I need to go out and mark those to be planted in the ground late winter.  I"ve got to relocate some trees to my greenhouse.

Black Maderia is one awesome fig.  I mean awesome.  There is one fig I wish I had.  And that's Black Ischia.  I would like to try and see if I can get that tough fig to grow.  I had one from UC Davis but it died. I will start some more cuttings in March and I hope next year UC Davis sends me another cutting.  I know I can get it to grow!  Thanks again for the vote of confidents.  cheers,

My first black madeira ripened today after 6 inches of rain the last few days, no splitting, decent taste. Taste is hard for me to describe, like a berry you can almost remember the name of, maybe black raspberry. Fig was blue a week ago, but was black today.
