moscatel

Hello,

So yesterday I bought a few fig trees of a fella who originally came from Portugal. These are very young trees from earlier this year. He described one as black skin with red inside, one with yellow skin pink inside. and one he described as a moscatel, which he said was a smaller dark fig. There was a bit of a language barrier but and seemed really nice and I am sure they will be nice trees if I don't kill them with love or let them get to cold this winter. Anyway question is the name Moscatel is it a common name for figs from Portugal. I am not even sure if the moscatel is a moscatel. He told me the one fig tree was a Ficus and the other was a carica. Was not gonna question him was just happy to get some different varieties.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks for the links Chivas. Gives me something to look forward to. The guy told me they were great figs and very sweet.

If they are anything like those in the link, you are one lucky ducky fluffy bunny.

The name might not mean much since Ficus Carica is the latin name for the common fig,  most varieties on this board are ficus carica

I'll be happy just to get some fruit from them in the near future, but am always curious to see what I end up with.

Mike
