I haven't seen many discussions on this topic for figs.
This year I have made a point to note the aroma of the figs I have and found some have a strong aroma and some none at all.
The most aroma I could detect were the S. Italian figs (Atreano, Melanzana,, Dottato ...) they have a pronounced figgy aroma very pleasant.
Also there is a very light aroma of a fresh picked mt. etna, Sicilan Black,dalmatie, ...
Some figs even if fresh figs don't seem to have any aroma black mission, VdB, Adriatic JH...
The aroma does not seem to correlate to the taste for example vdB and Adriatic JH are intense rich tastes but no aroma.
By the way many people can't detect any aroma from figs or wine for that matter..lol
