Moving an in-ground Fig. ? about suckers from roots left

So yesterday we dug up VdB at the old house, and to fit her in the car, we had to cut a lot of top and a lot of roots.  Many roots are still there, in ground.  I was wondering if figs ever grow new trees from cut roots left in the ground.  The site gets regular water.

We dug up a Sweet Gum AKA Liquid Amber last year and were kept busy slaying all the saplings that popped up from the roots.

Do figs do this?

Hi Suzi
A few years ago I had an in-ground fig that I wasn't happy with so in the fall I dug it up and gave it away to someone with a greenhouse.
Not surprised new shoots shot up next  year.  Since then I have left it unprotected for x years now and every year it shoots up new shoots.  That's my experience trying to get rid of a fig.  Wish they were just as easy to start.

Thanks Pino!  You answered my question.  We may own that property for about 3 months, and if so, we'll go see if there are some baby VdB's.  If so, we'll dig them up and pot them for some use in the future.
