Keep in shade outside for a while even during the shuffle. No need to scald them.

Personally, if it's under 50F at night I keep them indoors. Unless you have a bad infestation, then put in aluminum foil cooking trays, with sand from above and below...

Why the rush?

Not so much a rush - rather a need to get them up and growing. In zone 6 buying a few extra weeks could mean the difference between a lot of fruit ripening or not before the cold weather returns

I put some of them out this morning. Needed the room. Nice shady spot, and will keep an eye on them. They are in a tray, so it won't be too tough to bring them back in if needed.

43 degrees last night. The ones I put out the other day are just fine. I'll prob put these in the sun next week and move another batch outside in the shade.

In a protected spot (near a wall - you know the famous sun exposed wall that will act as a heat-sink and protect from the wind) you should be fine with 4°C in the night and  above 8°C ( 46°F) in the day. At least for cuttings that don't have big leaves opened. If you have big leaves, you should probably target above 8°C even at night.
I'll have to go check mine today... They are funny in their pots with their small leaves outside in the garden ... I already had to knock down some 5 figlets on them ...

Well, I have all my figlets outside now. Put half out a few days ago to see how the would do, and the rest went out this morning. The ones I put out early seem to be doing well. I suppose the like the extra light, and humidity. It's been rainy here lately, so I suppose that helps also.

No problem for my figs down to just above freezing.

I wanted to confirm if rooting works every time outside in TX zone 8b in a protected location such as my patio, where temperatures might dip below freezing on certain nights but quickly climb back up during the day and it worked everytime.
I left these pots in photo all winter long outside on my porch and the results are just as good as what I experienced inside.
A freezing spell that lasts during the day could severely damage the cuttings. In this case some might come back, but new cuttings might not make it.
I also found that the best results with rooting cuttings outside occur when cuttings are taken in Feb/March when the chances of getting lasting freezing temperatures decrease.
Once we start pushing above the 60s and lows of 40s very little damage occurs.
