Moving figs outdoors

I'm getting eager to move the figs out of the greenhouse. Pretty soon some of the bigger ones aren't going to fit through the door. Some might even get damaged when I try. But if I don't give my wife some room to start vegetables I'm going to get damaged. However, the extended forecast calls for low 40's and 1 or 2 nights in the upper 30's over the next 10 days. It won't get to freezing but it's still too early to have them outdoors? Or they ok?

Tough decision. I moved several figs outdoors in March since our long term forecast called for no more frost or freezing temperatures. In early April we had a frost that set back the figs I put outdoors. Now my best ones were the ones I kept indoors until last week.

If you are going to get damaged I'd get them out. ;) I had mine out for about 2 weeks now, if it gets closer to freezing ill take them back in.

I also have no room in my greenhouse and am getting elbowed for space for the veggies.

10 day forecast is looking very nice but many nights in the 30's and sure enough every year we have hard frosts until mid May.

I am only moving out what I am prepared to move back in as the weather dictates.

Hi,
In between the "one that should be obeyed" and the fig-trees ... The first one wins ...
I would try to negotiate a second ( -temporary-? ) greenhouse ...
You're in Zone6 - so it is really too soon IMO to get fig-trees out of their greenhouse.
Here in Zone7, I already had two leaflets burnt and destroyed by frost - that was last week or the week before ... Those leaves were on in ground trees ( no pushing them to grow )... Imagine a potted full leafed tree  ... It would have been toasted
.
Patience... Patience ... That is the key.
I had one young potted tree bugging me at home (sick looking ) and I put her in the garden ... Yesterday, she was really sad looking - all winter growth died back ... May be the full young tree is dead ... Time will tell .

Tony, I have all mine outside at this point(well not this year's cuttings) and looking at the forecast for next Tues to Fri the temp is supposed to hit lows of 33-39 at night.  I'm worried I will have to shuffle them all back into the garage, but it is worth it to get them growing ASAP.

I'm in CT and have moved all the fig trees outside this past Sunday. I'm giving my 1 gallon potted up cutting some tough love this year and put them out too. So far everything it hanging in there.

Still holding off on taking figs out of the greenhouse. The extended forecast here has the low on Thursday night/Friday morning as 32. Hope that's the end of our cold weather!

Everybody is out. Still doing fine. Waiting to see signs of life from the in-ground babies that I had wrapped and mulched. Fingers crossed!

I went to Bills Figs today to pick up a few more trees and asked him when he felt the best time for me to bring my rooted cuttings out and his answer was to wait a few more weeks.  After looking at how his trees are doing I think that I'll go with that.
