moving RdB. need advice

Ok here it goes, I planted my fig hedge about a month and a half ago. Now the figs are growing and taking off. I noticed that one rdb is to close to some other figs so I am wanting to move it out of the hedge and pot it up. But I don't want to shock it or do anything that may kill the lil guy. I am thinking I should brobly wait until it goes dormant. The tree is now about a foot tall maybe a little taller. Any advice. Its from a cutting rooted over winter.

After month its is just beginning to push new roots, so I assume you can fork it up, and move it then keep it well watered. A 1 foot fig is fairly small so most likley would not damage any roots if you take a large dirt mass with the roots

Agree with JackH.
if dug big enough around it's rootball without touching any roots and taken out in 1 piece  and your "very very quiet about it" in a bugs bunny type of way it won't even notice anything amiss.   ; )

I got her dug up and potted. i was gental about it. didnt see any roots sticking out of the mass i dug up. so i guess now only time will tell.

You will know if its been disturbed or not within a few hours usually less as it's leaves will droop.
Kinda like slipping plant out of smaller pot fully intact to put into bigger pot thats waiting and soil line pre measured to match its rim it should not droop and if root system disturbed will droop very quickly.

Done this many times and plant went back right into full sun without any problem.

Well here we are the following morning. The leaves did not droop at all. Little miss RdB looks happy and healthy potted up.

Sounds like it was a success!
