Thanks Vito,

For posting "Vito's Masterpiece"

Thanks Vito, great pictures. They make me realize what I've missed this summer thanks to the weather being so bad for figs.

Vito...

Pictures ARE worth a thousand words.  Beautiful slide show.  I recognize the varietal names, but not "Angelo's Dark" fig.  Can you give me/us a little information about this tree?  Just curious.

I see that you are in Zone-4.   How long have you grown this variety?  Origin of tree?  Is the taste of this fig comparable to any other variety?

Frank

Thank you all for taking the time to look at my pictures!

Eden, I can help you with the Sal's Corleone just remind me next month.

Frank, Angelo's dark is my brother Angelo's fig, he also has a Angelo's white
the dark fig was given to him by a friend, it comes from a little town near Palermo Sicily, He has it in the ground in Staten Island never coverd in the winter and the figs get better every year, it has a very nice berry flavor.
It is one of our favorite fig.
Vito

Beautiful pictures.

Vito....

Thanks for giving me the background information about this special heirloom-type fig.  Very nice.

If I ever have the pleasure of a larger growing area, I will collect many more ethnic fig varieties, like "Angelo's Dark" fig, and in fact, I may just give away some of my hoity-toity, big name figs, to make room for these unidentified treasures.

Loved reading, and seeing your brother's special fig.

Frank

Vito,

That last picture - the blue pot - is that an 18-20 gal pot?  Quite a big tree!
