Yep, a pic of some babies.LOL

the two big ones in the back are desert king there are 45 other cuttings in there some started te 21 nov. some just tonight. i have some on the top of the freezer for warmth trying to get that baggie method working. got a mix of one node wonders up there as well.

having a 7&7 or 3 then soak in the tub to get the bathroom steamy for them.

Those bins look awesome.  Where'd you get  em?  I'd love to have something I could put my cups in that was dump proof.  Seems like a few fall over every year.  What a pain.

Dave,

What type of light source are you using?

Those are anderson tree pots 2 7/8'' wide and 9'' deep i got two packs of 25 and they came with the tray. got em on ebay. i will try to see if that guy still has em and post a link. i bought some newpaper sleaves that i use as liners so once they root good enought to hold the soil together i just pop em out and put new ones in and start all over.

just a 2 foot floressence there with grow bulb, havent broke the others out yet. usualy the 2 footer does fine until they start getting bigger. there are 50 plants there.

Nice. Looks like you have some teens to.

As they grow i will post more pics. probly another one in a month or so. then another month after. all the way up until planted in the ground for the hedges and mini orchard i plan on making.

I hope they do well for you.. your set up looks nice, very nice.

Dave, if you ever need bands or tree pots in greater numbers, Stuewe is a good source.  It looks like you're using the AB39 pots which cost $.72/pot for 25 but can be bought at http://www.stuewe.com/products/anderson.php for $.72/pot if 150 are bought ($40.65 plus shipping).  Their shipping has been pretty good in my experience.  I've used those bands for a project but have used the CP412CH treepot at http://www.stuewe.com/products/treepots.php which cost $.30/pot for a case of 320.  These might be more than you could use but thought I'd throw it out there in case you have plans for bigger plantings.

I used to have a McConkey warehouse not far from me and I discovered once that they were carrying those treepots so I could have saved on shipping but they closed up that warehouse before I ever needed more.  I think their prices were the same as buying direct.

The treepots are supposedly somewhat effective in decreasing circling roots because of the ridges in the pots (vs. smooth sides in bands), but I don't know if that is really the case based on my observations.

EDIT: Oops, I just noticed that the eBay auction includes a tray which Stuewe also sells for $3.20 each (minimum 1).  See bottom of page for treepots.  I've bought lots of those as well as the deeper traps for the taller treepots.

Dave,
It's so great to see the fig tree in all stages of development, this infancy stage is especially pleasing.  Nice job & good luck.

Harvey thank you so much for the info. i would like to get about 500 more of these band pot atleast. maybe 1000. they work so well. it might just be me but i thing the more nodes i have under soil the better roots i can end up with and quicker.

Vince it is great to see them in all stages. but it takes all my energy to not pull one up just to see if there are roots. i havent yet. some of the buds are swelling on the older cutting, and the ones that had the tips cut off are starting to form small side shoots so i assume they are doing just fine.

dave

i potted the 2 bigger ones up today. bet they will be glad to have some root room. hopfully they start sending out a few more shoots.

sounds a great idea, i have to try it!!

Just a little update here on the little ones, sence i posted this three days ago the cuttings that were put in the 21 of nov all have buds swelling and breaking open. little leaves are starting to pop out. i will post a pic later got a x-mass thing to do at the school for the kidos. slept on my back wong yesterday i guess. horrible pain all stiff. causing problems with my pinched nerves am having to use the cane again. im 31 to young to feel this old. is what it is i guess.
