To tell if a fig is a Smyrna type one must typically bag the fruit to see if it persists without caprification.  Genetic testing might change that need some day.

Frank, I stared at the photo quite a bit and don't see the fig tree but I'm sure it's there! Also, coming up empty so far on the treasure hunt but will work on it more when chestnuts slow down.

Frank, thanks for sharing these amazing photos. You are fortunate to have people with you who appreciated your passion for figs, otherwise someone would have been frustrated. I hope you will be able to have an extension of your experience with those figs here at home in the next years.
