My fig tree leaves turned brown...

It was getting cold at night and brought my fig tree inside and put it by the window. Over night the leaves turned brown, shriveled. In about 24 hours later the leaves completely dried. When it was outside, it looked very healthy. Why is that happened and how I can bring my tree back to life?

How old are the trees ? Did you water them when you brought them jn. How big are the pots

I don't know how old it is. I didn't water it, it looked pretty healthy. I got it from ebay. Here is couple of pics.

Hi transiberian,
The dirt looks bone dry, so get them some water.
What is your winter plan? Let them go dormant, or let them grow ?

Yea. Water them and wait a few hours (5) and cut all the leaves that are dead. Did you have them in the sun outside?

I'm 99% sure that you need to water. Greatly increasing the humidity around your tree should also be a major concern because even though the leaves are dying, you don't want the buds and the rest of the plant to dry up and eventually die. Humidity will prevent that.

Here's why I think this has happened: It's likely that your plant is young, has an underdeveloped root system and was shocked when you brought it inside. The microclimate (temperature and humidity) immediately changes when moving plants, which can cause younger plants to be shocked. Kind of like when your cold and jump in a warm shower. Even if watered properly, underdeveloped root systems don't bring up enough water, which causes the plant to dry out and eventually die. Be careful of dry air being blown onto your fig, which is causing it to dry out.

The tree was in a shade outside. I put it inside by the window, it gets some sun. I want to let it grow inside, at least this winter. I took all the leaves out and I have been watering it as soon as I saw shriveling leaves. There is no blowing heat from a heater and I moved it away from a heater. May be I should put it in a bigger pot? The weird thing is I also brought my lemon tree inside and about half of the tree turned brown and dried out, that tree is pretty old, I think you're right, its just sudden temp change shocks a tree.
