My fig trees arrived today...

I'm super excited. Just received my fig trees in the mail today. Two from "hermansur" and the other two from "johnsvmf1".

Kathleen Black and Malta Black from hermansur.
Sicilian Black and Atreano from johnsvmf1.

I immediately moved them to 5 gallons buckets. I drill 4 holes on the bottom and 3 on the bottom sides. I hope that's sufficient.

johnsvmf1 also sent me 4 free cuttings.
They are Italian White, Red Italian, Mary Lane, and Hardy Chicago.

I'm a happy man!!

Good Morning Happy Man,

Sounds like Christmas and a Birthday all rolled up in one!

Please keep us updated on your cutting progress. I know very little about cuttings as I am an Amateur and would love to hear how you are doing this and if they suceed or fail.

Thanks

New trees...better than a box of chocolates!  You are on your way...and, with some of the best varieties.  These trees will give you pleasure, and delicious figs for generations to come.  Grow them well.

Good luck, with your 'Magna Cum Laude', fig collection!

Peter :Place them in Shade for at least the first week,so they come out of shock, shipping shock that is.
They will establish much faster if set in shade first then slowly moved toward sun, after a week.

@Herman2: I love chocolates but I prefer trees better :). Yes, right above them, not shown in the picture, is a shade fabric just like what they use to shade greenhouses. And all of that are also shaded by a tree right outside of the picture.

@Darman: I'm also very new with growing from cuttings. I placed the cuttings in ziplock bags with wet paper towels. We'll see the result in a few weeks.
