My figlet is sick :(

You all may or may not remember, I had 3 cuttings I was working with. All three rooted and grew leaves just fine. Two were kind of wimpy, and one was a superstar - with lots of roots, and big, healthy leaves. I gave the wimpy ones away, and kept the superstar.

Sadly, it's not looking so super, these days:

The leaves started drying out around the edges, turning crispy, and falling off, starting from the bottom, and going up. This morning, I noticed the main stem is getting thin in the middle too.

I had a tomatillo seedling in the same tub as this guys, and it succumbed first, and died.

It's hot as blazes out. So I brought the fig indoors, hoping to reduce its stress. But I don't know what else to do. I think it's some sort of pest that's invaded my garden lately - maybe thrips. But I'm not sure.

Grriscout,
if you have magnify glass try looking at the above and under leaf and that bud, tap bud and give real good look, i did this and noticed mites but there real hard to see i used a jewlers eye piece. The young mites seemed white and the slightly bigger ones maybe older still hard to see seem to have a dark spot on them.
Im no expert on bugs but it could be some sort of real tiny bug attacking your plant other than mites and withering it away its happened to me in past and very recently with mites.
I did use a spray killed one plant and saved the other small ones .
One thing i noted was they seemed to get into a tightly wound new bud as well but when i obeserved it for a good while i could see them crawling out of it.
Either way i would keep plant in full shade at this point.

Also if no bugs too much water will also wither a young plant away such as yours as tender roots cannot handle it and will rot root system and kill plant.
