I went this morning to see if my figs were ripe yet and this is what I found

We had a very hard rain yesterday would that have something to do with it?

Unfortunately, its the rain. Some are more affected than others.

Welcome to my world. We haver had nearly a full years worth of rain here in Philly in the past few weeks. What hasn't split tastes like watered down crap.

Also called "splitting".  Some varities are affected by it during heavy water periods.  Varieties prone to splitting aren't suited to the east coast.

This is exploding:

A poor pic; but also notice the big/happy fly in it...

So did mine here in South Jersey due to daily rain.

Too bad partially ripened figs don't ripen after removing from the tree like some fruits do otherwise we could have saved some before rain make them burst and spoil.
Brunswick has always been the worse for me. I still keep it for its ornamental features.

Yes are so right noss. Knowing that reduces stress level too.
