My Figs Might Have Felt The Ground Shake

Hmm before i drove kids to HS this morning Daughter says dad we had an earthquake this morning. I said huh?
She stated around 4 am or so her locker that i got from work and repainted put it in her room woke her up because it was shaking this is a full size locker.
Now my first thought was she had a bad dream as she does once in a while and it will startle me as im a light sleeper , she screams and i go running in there thinking someone came in house at times but she is slowly growing out of it, heck i used to sleep walk when i was a kid (long story)
Anyways i drive them to school and come home turn on the tv and first thing i see it a earthquake that hit 45 miles nothwest of chicago was downgraded from a 4.3 to a 3.9. She was right but im surprised it was felt here my me as we are some 30 to 40 miles south of chciago let along where it actually was.
I really dont know much about these quakes as this is the 3rd or 4th one i can ever recall . But the prior one was just last year or 2 ago.
Jon im sure your familar with them.
Anyways i bet my plants rocked a little bit in there bin sitting up on the wash machine and perhaps maybe the ones in the garage who knows.
I will have to ask the misses as she gets up early about 3:30am and leaves near 5 am.
Maybe she was sitting on the pot after she has her coffee now that would be funny least to me.  ; )

Figs grow happily in California, so I'm sure they are accustomed to occasional ground shakes... LOL

So let me get this straight, you get earthquakes AND have to put up with snow, And you still haven't moved?

dieseler
Yes, listen to the advice.
Move from a little bit of earth quake and a lot of snow to a lot of earth quakes and a little bit of snow. Figs will be happy.

No, ALL the snow on the planet is dumping here, in NJ. We are buried right now with more snow coming. We are having 2' on top of 2' we still have on the ground from last weekend. Kids are so bored, they actually look forward to going to school tomorrow if they are allowed to, which I doubt.
I'm taking kids out snow shoveling...

Jon, that was a good one!

Martin you could move to SE Texas where the hurricanes might blow you away(and your trees). and push 4' of storm surge into your house. Snow and earthquakes might be a fair trade off. Well, maybe not.

Vickey, that was a neat picture with the fig in the foreground.

i know you folks got clobbered with snow. Washington has had tremendous amount of snow its almost or is unreal but there is more to come .
By me we only recieved 10 inches of snow and up to 15 inches north and east of me. Now when i mention more to come . Our weather meteorologist looks long term he calls it systems out there in fantasy land and there are several more what they are doing is following a recent pattern going thru Canada and coming south hitting warmer air then rideing the west to east winds, the last one just missed us that dumped on Washington this one that gave us up to 15 inches moved thru and got stronger as it went eastward poor Washington and lots of other east coast states. Anyways there are several more out there now in fantasy land that may or may not do the same in a weeks time. Im not complaing dont get me wrong we are sorta used to these snowfalls i just get tired of it after all these years though as i have gotten a LITTLE older.
So brace yourself it Could get worse and maybe not - time will tell.
Baseball season about 50 days or so away from starting of course last season a couple cames were pushed back because of snow.
Akram and Jon good one !
Just cant move yet but its in the future.

Move to Atlanta ;)

Jason that was and still an option beside florida but its a long way off 5 years hopefully no more than 10 thats for sure.
Also i was trying to push saying in my mind arnolds version " California "
but the Misses says nope course she may have a change of heart and we may wind up in Alaska who knows "yeah right" she hates the snow and cold.
I have drove throught Georgia several times via the expressway and thru Atlanta a beautiful looking city least from the expressway very pretty at night also.
I think Chicago could learn a lot from there e-way system course the one here is somewaht aged and decrepted.

Ciao Martin, earthquakes!  Madonna, hope we never get them, I don't like earthquakes.  Earthquake brought a big part of my home region in the homeland down to rubble a year or so ago. Very disheartening.  Tony and I are planning hopefully in the near future to move to Florida (Southern section). I had stayed in California, they can keep it, too far from everyone here on this east coast, Everything is on the east!. I did lOVE the weather in California though. Very nice in the southern part of the state. I like Florida because it seems everyone there especially where Tony and I am going is from either Pa, Nj, or New York City!!!!! Also alot lots of Italians, which makes me feel more comfortable, plus you can't beat the weather. I'll put up with the hurricanes and the giant bugs.I did live in Crystal River Florida a few years also right above Tampa. I had hurricane and also experienced a tornado that was very scary. Never seen raindrops so big.  I had a couple bad experience in the deep south, not Florida, I won't mention which states, but they told me " go back up north! take spaghetti and meatballs with you "  I was very upset, that happened a few times in some locales so I am very picky about where to go. We have over 40 inches of snow and it is terrible here now.  Martin everything is shut down!!!!!  I shoveled and shoveled, this is a blizzard here in Pa now.  Husband is only too happy to pack up now.  Plus, I think my  family in Florida needs me.  We will look into it very soon now. ciao

Well my friends they said that if the Saints won the SuperBowl hell would freeze over. An sure enough DC is shut down and they can't make any new laws. That might be a blessing in disguise..

From the pleasant deep south. Buds are opening, all will be fine. "gene"

Thats funny Gene, I only watch the Eagles from Philly.  Yes, many beautfiul and pleasant places in the South,  Their Hospitality is second to none anywhere on the Earth, Maybe next to Ireland.  We were addressed as Miss and my husband mister and sir, They were so very very pleasant, I was quite shocked, even the young kids.  They are the most hospitable people I must say, serve you like you are a queen!

Thanks for the kind words Maggie. I know me and mine do our best to keep it that way. "gene"

Ciao Gene, yes, there are definitely more like you and yours, I just know where I encountered alot of prejudiced and stay away from there in the future. I try to shake of the old regional pride that I was raised with as this is common, very common in my people, Region is very important, I hope I didn't insult you in any way, I catch myself sometimes, as I generally say what I think at that moment, but I'm still a nice lady, I don't ever go into a town or place looking at the negative, I always try to learn and admire everyone, some people don't mind sharing and being nice, others don't want you there and they let you know.  This is all a part of the world.  Traveling was always something I loved doing, I have traveled all over the world, and I find the beauty in every culture and people, as I said, hospitality wise, The Southern U.S. and Ireland are to me and from what I have experienced very warm and inviting people.  I love S. California for that matter, just so very very far away, and we love to drive everywhere.  I haven't been to canada yet, and its right up the highway practically. I would like to see those places, I hear they are very very nice people as well. With anyone, there is good and bad, some are known a little more for each, and you make your own judgments. I absolutely fell in love with s. Florida though.  I can see me getting old there and I want to find a place I could call home. I never was able to do that here in this town.  My husband is from here, but this is just not for me.  I want a home, I have moved so much in my life, i feel I belong nowhere. Outside of my hometown in Europe, I don't feel at home.  I must find it soon as I want to put real roots down here in this great country somewhere and watch the grandchildren grow up.  We'll see what happens.
Ciao
