My First Chicogo Hardy Fig Fruit!

Just ate my first fig from my Chicago Hardy Fig plant. It was awesome! Now I'm really hooked! But it didn't look like a Chicago Hardy fig to me. Look more like the Brown Turkeys I've seen on here. I would love to have peoples' opinion.

Likely a CH breba if it was tasty.

Hi,
One fig is not enough to tell.
A black/violet skinned fig in a shady branch can remain light colored - I get all shades of violet (even some yellow/green) on one of my strains that normally has violet colored fruits.
You'll have to wait to have more ripe fruits to tell.
Of course, HC being a dark fig ... the color on this fruit is off. But wait and see with the next fruits.

Looks like Celeste to me. Too big and light for a CH. I never had a breba from my CH I think they are rare or only happen in the south.

Thanks for the input! I think it may have been a breba, as suggested. Hopefully I get more to try. There are more on the plant, but being in zone 5....

Hmm I'm in zone 7 never seen a breba on any of my CH

Well it may have something to do with overwintering in my house. I bought this tree last fall, and waited till spring to put it outside, in the ground.

Do you have a picture of the leaves? That would help in ID-ing your tree.

I put that up tonight, when I get home from work.

Had a few minutes, so here are the pics

Your leaves look like HC. Sometimes immature figs (first figs) will grow like that depending on the timing of the season and the age of the small tree. Your tree looks faily young.

That fig looks like the breba my HC produced this year. They were not very good, not NEARLY as good as the main crop.

BtW, I am picking lots of HC right now, and they are wonderful! We had a lot of rain until a few weeks ago. So the figs (and all my other fruits) are big and very tasty this year.

My first fig ever was a HC breba, One and only breba I have ever had off of that tree.
My tree is loaded with figs this year so really looking forward to them ripening. Probably another 3 weeks before they start for me.

Another fig from my Hardy Chicago. And one from my Florea.

Hardy Chicago is on the right, for the whole figs, and the top, on the cut figs. The other fig is a my first Florea fig.
