My first ever home-grown fig fruit

Thanks to he help and assistance to many forum members who have shared ideas and given advice, i picked my very first home grown fig from my 1.5 year old White Adriatic fig.

From a sickly looking twig, i nursed ut back to health and it rewarded me with a fig, with 5 more growing by the passing day.

The fig weight just under 75 grams. It was quite soft to the touch and had some cracking so i assumed it was ready.

The taste was not bland but not too sweet with the "berry" taste, id give it a 5/10 with 0 being bland and 10 being very sweet. it was very pleasant and i trust it will get better with age/waiting a bit longer until they are dead ripe. Anyone with experiences with the white adriatic know if the eye drips honey when its ripe?

Looks like desert King

I'm so jealous! It will be months before I get a fig.

Desert king is really rare here in Australia. Only a few people sell it. I bought this one from a well known nursery and they don't have desert king figs or any rare ones for that matter unfortunately

Congratulations!
This is a nice fig with its true Adriatic shape and colors
Sure, it will improve as it gets age.

btw, how is your Kalamata doing ?

Is Kalamata from Portugal?

Thanks lampo. My Kalamata fig is loving life! Here is the latest picture :). Since the last update its been growing like crazy seems to love the 30+ degree heat just like the adriatic but the Clancy blue has been getting scorched leaves might need to move it.

Great ! Hope it will grow robust and give you nice figs!

@brian
Kalamata white and black figs are from the region of Kalamata in Greece, famous for its dry figs and world class olives and olive oil!
