We had our first taste of a fig this year from a Sal's Corleone plant that I got from Maggie (Mediterranean Flora) last year.  It was very large with an outstanding rich sweet flavor.  THANK YOU MAGGIE!

We also sampled a couple of VDB figs that should have stayed on the plant for a couple of more days, but I just couldn't wait!  Very sweet!

I feel like all of those figs could have stayed on for another several days and would have been a lot juicier.

If you have not yet tasted main crop of VdB in past seasons you should like more than the breba one you sampled.
Its a wonderful tasting fig.

Very nice pics. I love the PVC frame. I see a blue tarp in the background. Is this to start and end the season with a litle protection from the cold? I like it. There is a south facing wall here that could be used the same way.

You have a great collection going there. I could see that some are starting to reach some maturity. I could see one in the foreground with a good size trunk. My oldest tree here is now 11 years old. It is so fun when they start to produce.

A word of warning though- I lost some that were young due to allowing them to over-fruit while very young. Knock off the fruits if too many form on a young tree. You will save it's life/even though it will be hard to sacrifice them.

Yes that is the reason for the tarp. I already knocked off the figs on the Ischia Black after I took the picture. I live in beautiful Saratoga ( zone 4)
