My First Monster Fig of the Year

Actally, this is my second one. When I cut the first one open there was a worm in it,so I threw it away. It broke my "figging" heart! Its a keeper.

~wow that is huge wow ~

@ Larsb, the tree is 4 years old and loaded with figs, given to me by a very generous member(you know who you are, thank you)
@ Pino.it should start to produce by the second year.
Vito

Auguri!
Great looking fig no wonder it is so popular!
How old before it started producing figs?

Vito: OMG! What a nice looking fig. Congrats! Thanks for sharing.

Nice Vito. Not to open a can of worms, but I now believe that the fig known as Rob's Genovese Nero is indeed Genovese Nero AF.

Is the a fig or a breba ??

Hey Vito, What a beautiful Fig! Beautiful color and the size is outrageous! Thanks for posting! Keep the photos coming! : )

Thank you Frank.;-)

Francisco, I don't think it's a breba.

Gary, are you growing both Rob's and the AF version side by side?  The saga continues!

Yes Steve, I am. They are the same, IMO. I also have the Rafed GN, and it is much different, more similar to IT 258.
Francisco, my photos are of main crop, as I think are Vito's.

The implication is that there is a difference between GN AF and Rafed's GN, I never heard that before, seems very likely to generate more confusion

Thank you Vito and Gary
It must be a much cold hardy cultivar..
May be the best answer to the numerous  members in the upper latitudes  looking for the ideal fig for their locations

I believe that what figgary is saying is that it is Rob's Genovese Nero is the true Genovese Nero that Adriano has and that Rafed's is actually the mix up and not really Genovese Nero.

figgary -  Would you still say that Rafed's GN is the better version?

Vito, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I didn't mean to. It was your photo of Genovese Nero AF that made me realize Rob's GN could be the AF version.

Don, yes, in my location, that is my opinion. I have mentioned this before, Rob's has produced a very high quality breba here. My Rafed version has not produced brebas, the main crop fig is smaller, later, and better tasting, IMO.

Rafael, there are 2 very different versions. I hope others that have both will chime in.

Gary, there's no need to apologize, its all good

Those figs would be great to stuff and cook on the BBQ.
